KUCHING, Sept 29: Thunderstorm alerts have been issued for 13 districts in Sarawak until 3pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in an advisory notice issued at 12pm, said the affected districts are Serian, Samarahan, Simunjan, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Tatau, Bintulu, Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi.

According to the department, adverse weather conditions expected include heavy rain and strong wind.
It also said that a warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20mm/hour approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.
It added a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance. — DayakDaily
