KUCHING, Aug 19: A thunderstorm alert have been issued for Sarikei, Meradong, Mukah, Bintulu, and Tatau in a notice which is valid until 1pm today.
Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in the advisory notice issued at 10am said adverse weather conditions are expected to include heavy rain and strong wind.

The department said a warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with a rain intensity greater than 20mm/hour or expected to last for more than an hour.
It added that the thunderstorm warning is short-term and valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance. — DayakDaily
