KUCHING, Sept 22: Thunderstorm alerts were issued to seven districts in Sarawak until 8pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in an advisory notice issued at 4.55pm, said the affected districts are Kuching, Bau, Serian, Sibu, Kanowit, Kapit, and Song.

According to the department, adverse weather conditions include heavy rain and strong winds.
It also said that a warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20mm/hour approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.
It added a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance. — DayakDaily
