KUCHING, Oct 4: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm alert for 11 districts, including Kuching, Samarahan, and Miri, effective until 4pm today.
According to an advisory issued at 1.45pm, other affected areas include Betong, Sarikei, Meradong, Mukah, Tanjung Manis, Daro, Matu, and Limbang.

The department warned of heavy rain and strong winds associated with the adverse weather conditions.
The alert is based on indications of thunderstorms with rain intensity exceeding 20mm per hour, expected to last for more than an hour.
MetMalaysia noted that thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts, valid for up to six hours from issuance. — DayakDaily
