KUCHING, Aug 31: sThe Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm alert for Miri, Subis, Beluru, Marudi, and Limbang, effective until 5pm today.
In an advisory notice released at 2pm, MetMalaysia warned of adverse weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and strong winds.

The department noted that a warning is issued when there are indications of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20mm/hour, either approaching or expected to persist for more than an hour.
MetMalaysia also stated that thunderstorm warnings are short-term advisories, valid for a maximum of six hours from the time of issuance. — DayakDaily
