Thunderstorm alert for 11 districts throughout Sarawak until 5pm (Feb 24)

KUCHING, Feb 24: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected in 11 districts throughout Sarawak until 5pm today.

Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in an advisory notice issued at 2.30pm, said the affected districts are Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sibu, Selangau, Mukah, Bintulu, Tatau, Sebauh, Miri, and Limbang.

The department said a warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20mm/hour approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.

It added that a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a maximum of six hours per release. — DayakDaily
