Three suspects remanded for 6 days to assist in drug probe

MIRI, May 23: The Magistrates Court here on Wednesday ordered a local man and two Vietnamese women to be remanded for six days for drug possesion to assist a police probe into the case.

All three accused will be produced again in court on May 28.


The remand was ordered by Magistrate Kasyfurrahman Abang Ahmad on Wednesday afternoon (May 22).

Initially, investigation officer Inspector Ameerul Ashraf applied for a seven-day remand as the police needed time to track down the actual owner of the vehicle that the police seized during the raid on Tuesday morning.

The three accused aged 19, 22 and 23, will be investigated under Section 39B, 39A(1),12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

All three accused were produced at Miri Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

On Tuesday morning, the state narcotics police arrested the three suspects and seized 808.32g of five different types of drugs worth about RM82,201.10.

The male suspect was detained inside a four-wheel-drive (4WD), while the two women inside the room of a condominium in Tanjong Lobang. — DayakDaily
