Three more medical staff down with Covid-19, tally up to 169

KUCHING, Feb 10: Three more medical personnel have been infected with Covid-19, adding to the total number of cases among healthcare workers in Sarawak to 169 as of to date.

Based on the report from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, three cases which involved healthcare workers were identified in Sibu.


Yesterday, there were four medical personnel who have been infected with Covid-19, bringing the total number of a healthcare worker who was down with coronavirus to 166.

Meanwhile, State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing told DayakDaily that there were 162 Covid-19 cases among medical staff recorded between January and Feb 8, with 75 of them recovered.

He explained that the majority of the cases or 44.1 per cent were infected through the community while 38.2 per cent were transmitted from colleagues and 17.6 per cent from other patients.

Meanwhile, cases of medical staff infected with Covid-19 have been reported at four major hospitals in Sarawak, namely Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), Miri Hospital, Bintulu Hospital and Sibu Hospital. —DayakDaily
