Three men get 12 years, 10 strokes for possession of meth

KUCHING, July 3: The Sessions Court here has found three men accused of being in possession of Methamphetamine guilty as charged, sentencing them to 12 years’ imprisonment and 10 strokes accordingly.

Sessions Court Judge Dayang Ellyn ruled that the court found that the three accused had not cast reasonable doubt on the strength of the prosecution’s case, and therefore found three of them guilty as charged and convicted accordingly.


The judge sentenced them to imprisonment of 12 years, with effect from their date of arrest, which is March 11, 2019, and 10 strokes of the cane.

Boon Yean Shung, 29, Yong Joon Kong, 28 and Lai Muk Loi, 33, were found to have 44.50 grams of Methamphetamine in their possession at an unnumbered house in Seringgok Road, Bau, at about 2.19am on March 11,2019.

They are charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39A(2) of the same Act and be read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
