SRI AMAN, March 26: Three individuals were injured in a series of accidents involving four vehicles at KM64 Jalan Sri Aman-Kuching near Aping here around 5.30am yesterday (March 25).

Sri Aman District Police Chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the chain of events started when a Toyota Hilux crashed while enroute from Sibu to Kuching.

Following the accident, the driver and a passenger suffered minor injuries and they called up a family member to take them to the Sri Aman Hospital in another vehicle.

The Toyota Hilux was left behind at the scene without any signage to warn other road users. This led to a second road accident where a Proton Waja car driven by a male teacher heading to SK Sebuyau, Ensengei Simunjan crashed into the first vehicle. The teacher suffered minor injuries on his right hand.

After that, a lorry heading from Sri Aman to Kuching had slowed down while passing by the accident scene. However, another Toyota Hilux vehicle behind the lorry had failed to slow down and crashed onto the lorry’s left bumper.

The drivers of the lorry and the second Toyota Hilux did not suffer any injuries.

“All vehicles were taken to IPD Sri Aman Police Station for further action.

“Further investigations are still being conducted under Section 48 of the Road Transport Act 1987,” Mathew said in a statement. – DayakDaily
