MIRI, July 1: Three passengers escaped unscathed after their Proton Savvy suddenly caught fire on Bekenu bridge near Batu Niah last night (June 30).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Batu Niah received an emergency call at 7.18pm and promptly dispatched a team to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames and completely burnt.
The three passengers—two men and a woman—had been inside the car when the fire broke out but managed to exit safely. No injuries or casualties were reported.
According to the car owner, the fire started abruptly while they were travelling from Batu Niah to Bekenu.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze using water from the fire engine and conducted overhauling work to eliminate any remaining sources of ignition, ensuring the area was safe before concluding the operation. — DayakDaily
