SIBU, July 3: Three persons in a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle escaped death when a timber log from a trailer lorry landed on their vehicle last night at Jalan Rantau Panjang.
The victim were aged between 32 to 52.
According to State Fire and Rescue Department in a statement, it received a distress call at about 8.20pm about the incident.
“It is believed that the lorry trailer was making a turn to a sawmill when a timber log suddenly broke loose and crashed into the four-wheel drive vehicle which was travelling behind it,” it said.
Firefighters from the Sungai Merah station use special tools to extricate the victims from their mangled vehicle.
“The victims were sent to Sibu Hospital in an ambulance,” it added. — DayakDaily
