Three detained for suspected involvement in Luak robbery

MIRI, June 16: Police here detained three men on suspicion of involvement in a convenience shop robbery in Luak to assist a police probe into the case.

The three, all locals, aged from 21 to 31, were detained during an operation codenamed ‘Ops Rentap’ at 5.30pm on Saturday (June 15).

The raid was held at a house in a quadruplex flat, Permyjaya, Bandar Baru Permyjaya, during which several items including two knives, a helmet and a handphone were seized.

The robbery reportedly took place on May 24 at 1.01pm.

According to sources, robbers wearing helmets barged into the shop and pointed a knife at the on-duty female cashier. The suspects allegedly demanded money before grabbing the cashier’s bag and fleeing the scene.

The incident was caught by the shop’s CCTV.

The estimated loss was about RM1,000, including the victim’s valuables and cash.

All three suspects were produced at the Magistrate’s Court here this morning before registrar Nuur Hafiz Yatim.

The court ordered all three accused to be remanded for five days until June 21. — DayakDaily
