Three arrested over armed robbery at Tudan mini market

MIRI, Aug 22: Three local men were arrested for their suspected involvement in an armed gang robbery case at a mini market in the Tudan area here on Aug 21.

In a statement, the Miri District Police Headquarters (IPD) said that in the incident, which occurred at around 5.30am, a female employee who was working at the premises was attacked with a sharp weapon after the suspects broke through the shop’s door.

The suspects also fled with cash and several items belonging to the victim and the premises, while the victim sustained injuries to her hand and shoulder before receiving treatment at Miri Hospital.

Acting on information received and following investigations, police arrested three male suspects aged between 28 and 39. Police also seized several items believed to be linked to the case, including mobile phones, clothing, and a motorcycle.

The case is being investigated under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery involving the use of a dangerous weapon. If convicted, offenders may face up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping.

Miri police stressed that they would conduct a thorough investigation and take firm action against anyone involved in criminal activities.
