Three arrested for drug possession, police tracking fourth suspect “Ah Bi”


KUCHING, Jan 16: Two men and one woman were arrested on drug-related charges in Batu Kawa, yesterday.

Padawan District police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan in a statement said the first arrest of a 16-year-old youth was made by a team of police at an unnumbered house in Desa Wira.

“During an initial investigation on the suspect, an orange and white metal box was found in the suspect’s hand, and upon inspection, four transparent plastic packet together with another three blue plastic packets containing a crystalline substance was found inside it believed to be Syabu with an estimated weight of 5.20 grammes,” he said.


He said the suspect had admitted to being involved in drug use and worked as a runner for a man known as “Ah Joey” with a payment of RM30 per day.

Aidil also said that following the arrest of the 16-year-old suspect, police arrested a 31-year-old man known as “Ah Joey” together with a 17-year-old girl at an unnumbered house in Desa Wira.

“After the arrest, police conducting a search of the male suspect named Ah Joey, found one transparent plastic containing a crystal substance that was believed to be Syabu with an estimated weight of 0.27 grammes.

“In an initial statement, the suspect (Ah Joey) admitted to being involved in drug usage and had been buying it from a man known as ‘Ah Bi’ through online banking,” he added.

Aidil also pointed that the suspect made contact with “Ah Bi” and was given a bank account number for the payment.

He said Ah Joey was instructed to send a deposit receipt as proof of payment and the drugs would have been sent to a drop-off point somewhere in BDC area.

“For the 17-year-old female suspect, she also admitted to being involved in drug usage which was supplied for free by her boyfriend named ‘Ah Bi’,” said Aidil.

All three suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine in an initial urine test and efforts were taken by the police to trace the supplier named “Ah Bi”.

Ah Joey and the female suspect are being investigated under Sections 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Meanwhile the 16-year-old suspect is being investigated under Sections 39A(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.  —DayakDaily
