MIRI, Oct 17: Miri police on Tuesday arrested three suspected car thieves and seized three Perodua Kancil cars from them.
The arrests came about as the result of a public tip-off on the group’s whereabouts.
According to sources, the suspects which comprised locals were nabbed inside a house in Piasau around 2pm.
During the arrest, police also seized three Perodua Kancil cars and dismantled car parts.
Sources added, that earlier this month, police recovered a Perodua Kancil believed to have been stolen after a 15-minute chase with two suspects which ended by the roadside of RPR Batu 6 here. However, the suspects managed to escape.
It is believed that the two men who escaped then are among the suspects arrested yesterday.
Further investigations revealed that the thieves preferred Perodua Kancil cars as the vehicles are considered easy targets because they are relatively cheap to maintain and have a ready market.
All the arrested suspects are males in their late 20’s and unemployed. — DayakDaily
