MIRI, Jan 5: Police today detained three men suspected to have broken into the former house of the Miri District Officer (DO) at Piasau Camp two months ago, from two separate locations in Senadin.

The arrests of the suspects, aged between 18 to 32, was led by Inspector Fredly Juing.

The first two suspects were picked up from a house in Kampung Senadin Phase 6 around 3pm, while the third suspect was detained one hour later near a hypermarket in Senadin.

All of the suspects are currently being detained at Miri Central police station (CPS) for questioning.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.

On November 5 last year, one of Miri DO Abdul Aziz Mohamad Yusuf’s son lodged a police report after their former government house in Piasau Camp was broken into.

According to the son, the house was vacant at the time of the intrusion, as his father had moved into their new house in Taman South Lake in Permyjaya.

Abdul Aziz and his family left their previous house at Piasau Camp on September 2.

As the thieves could not find any valuebles inside the house, they took the front gate and fled the scene on a motorcycle.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspects had sold the stolen gate for RM100. ā€” DayakDaily
