KUCHING, July 27: Kuching Waterfront was packed with thousands of spectators who were there to witness a spectacular lightshow including a boat parade rehearsal tonight.
Members of the public started to gather on the riverbank as early 7.30pm, eagerly waiting for the rehearsal, which started at 8.30pm.
The event will be held this Saturday (July 29) in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of Sarawak’s Independence celebration.
Speaking to reporters at the rehearsal, Deputy Minister of Transport Sarawak (Maritime and Riverine) Dato Henry Harry Jinep said preparation is going well for the main event.
He also said that members of the public can expect a colorful and grand event on Saturday.
Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datin Juma’aini Tuanku Bujang are expected to attend the event on July 29.
Apart from that, there will also be a stage performance featuring local artists.
About 20 government department and agencies will participate in the event. — DayakDaily
