Thousands of country music fans flock to Siniawan

BAU, Oct 5: Thousands of festival goers in cowboy hats, checked shirts and neck scarves flocked to the Siniawan heritage town this evening for the Country Music Festival, now in its fourth year.

The serene Siniawan bazaar came alive with music, food and dance as people from all walks of life including tourists gathered for the second night of the festival which kicked off yesterday (Oct 4).

Everyone was up on their feet as they enjoyed watching performing acts like Ady MoW & Maha from Sabah, Mel & Rani (Singapore/Indonesia), The Mountain Wind Band (Miri), Country Road Band (Miri), On Strings Band (Kuching), Hi Breeds Band (Kuching), Os Pombos Band (Kuala Lumpur), Raggy (Penang), Andrew De Mello (Malacca), Peter Engkasan (Betong) and Roland Terawe (Kuching).

There were also a wide array of local delicacies being offered from Dayak, Chinese, Malay and even western food.

The festival was also made lively with dazzling lights, street games and folklore music.

Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh has said that they were expecting a record number of festival goers to surpass the 15,000 mark.

Apart from highlighting the rich historical heritage of Siniawan and its surrounding areas, the festival also aims to bring people together through food, drinks and music in an enjoyable atmosphere.— DayakDaily
