‘The Old Kuching Heritage Trail’, ‘myKuching’ the winners in short video contest

KUCHING, Dec 29: A three-minute video titled ‘The Old Kuching Heritage Trail’ by Abang Azmi Reza Abang Abdul Rauf emerged as the champion in the Old Kuching Heritage professional category video competition.

Abang Azmi received a cash prize of RM5,000. The second place went to Brendan Goh Chuan Lung with a video titled ‘Old Kuching Heritage’ and third place went to Abdul Muliadi Abdul Muluk with a video titled ‘Tudung Keringkam’.

Goh and Abdul Muliadi won RM3,000 and RM2,000 respectively.


In the student category, Vivian Wong Yu Yin with the video titled ‘myKuching’ emerged as champion while second place went to Nurul Hikmah Begum Ali Sabri with the video ‘Old Kuching Heritage and Elizerbeth Patterson won the third prize for her video titled ‘Kuching Waterfront’ Heritage.

They received RM5,000, RM3,000 and RM2,000 respectively.

According to the Head of Kampung Heritage Component, Dr Al-Khalid Othman, the competition was aimed at promoting Kuching city as a world heritage tourism destination.

The Old Kuching Heritage consists of four components namely Kampung Heritage, Waterfront Heritage, Business Heritage and Heritage Trails.

All the participants were allowed the free hand and ideas of producing videos based on the four components and the video must not exceed three minutes.

Twenty-five finalists were selected for the contest, which ran from Sept 20 to Nov 30. — DayakDaily
