Thai masseur fined RM3,500 for soliciting

KUCHING, March 16: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a Thai national to a fine of RM3,500 for soliciting for the purpose of prostitution.

Pakprasertpon Jaratsri, 51, pleaded guilty to the charge here today.


Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali accepted her guilty plea and sentenced her to a fine of RM3,500 or in default to 4 months’ imprisonment.

The accused was charged with soliciting for the purpose of prostitution in a room at a reflexology centre in Jalan Wan Alwi, at about 4.30pm on September 3, 2020.

She was charged under Section 372B of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term not exceeding one year or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

According to the brief facts of the case, the accused was arrested when police personnel disguised as a customer visited the said reflexology centre and found the accused together with a customer. The customer mentioned that the accused had offered a sex service with a fee of RM150.

Upon investigation, it was found that the accused held a working permit as a masseur at the said premises.
