KUCHING, Oct 30: An Indonesian woman caught offering sex for RM100 to an undercover police agent at a Batu Kawa beauty centre has been fined RM4,000 and jailed for four months for a separate immigration offence.
The 37-year-old pleaded guilty without legal representation before Magistrate Nureina Syafika Mohd Najib to soliciting for prostitution under Section 372B of the Penal Code. She faces six months’ jail if she fails to pay the fine.
Section 372B targets the act of soliciting or importuning for prostitution or any immoral purpose, rather than prostitution itself. It carries a maximum penalty of one year’s jail, a fine, or both.
The court heard that police raided the premises on Jalan Batu Kawa at about 5pm on Oct 27, acting on information from an undercover agent sent to investigate suspected prostitution. Officers entered an unnumbered room, found the accused with the agent, and arrested her.
They seized a bottle of massage oil, an unused condom, a packet of wet tissues, and RM100 in cash. Investigators determined that she had agreed to provide sexual services in return for the money.
In a separate proceeding, the accused also admitted to staying in Malaysia without a valid pass, an offence under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. Judge Mursyida Abd Halim sentenced her to four months’ jail from today and ordered her deported once she has served her term.
Deputy Public Prosecutors Ahmad Fauzulutfi Suriani and Marvind Kaliyani handled the two cases separately. — DayakDaily
