Thai fisherman missing after falling into river near Tanjung Bako

KUCHING, March 31: A fisherman from Thailand was reported missing after falling into a river from a boat near Tanjung Bako late yesterday afternoon.

According to the missing victim’s colleague, he received a call from a security personnel near the area and was told that a man fell into the river around 4:58pm.


He immediately went to the boat but failed to locate his missing colleague. A police report was later lodged and the Fire and Rescue Department was contacted to help search for the missing fisherman.

Today is the second day of the seach and rescue (SAR) operation. As of press time, the fisherman has yet to be found.

The SAR team used ‘water surface’ searching techniques and are focusing their search near the river area. — DayakDaily
