KUCHING, June 21: There will be a temporary road closure around the Kuching Waterfront area on Sunday (June 23) for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) and Para Sukma XXI torch relay.
Kuching district police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah, in a press statement, said the closure will start at 5.30am until the programme ends.
Among the roads that will be closed are Jalan Main Bazaar-Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Jalan Haji Taha-Jalan Gambir, Jalan McDougall-Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, traffic light from RTM-Jalan Barrack, Jalan Padungan from Sri Aman roundabout-Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Temple-Jalan Main Bazaar, Jalan Gambir, and Jalan Bukit Mata.
“Road users can use alternative roads such as from Jalan Tabuan to Jalan Simpang Tiga-Jalan Central Timur to Jalan Ban Hock to avoid traffic congestion.
“Vehicles coming from Jalan Haji Taha are advised to make a U-turn at Masjid roundabout, while those coming from Jalan Pending can make a U-turn at Sri Aman roundabout,” he added.
He also reminds members of the public not to park their vehicles along the affected roads. — DayakDaily
