KUCHING, June 26: Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas) Digital Village is partnering with Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) and TusStar, for the Global Market-Fit Programme (GMP) in efforts to support Sarawak startups to accelerate growth with new product and solution market-fit strategies expanding to China.
Tegas chairman Datu Len Talif Salleh, in a statement today, said GMP has been designed, taking inspiration from the paths and key success factors of highly successful Malaysian start-ups which have expanded abroad.
According to him, the programme aims to provide assistance for start-ups to accelerate growth with new product or solution market-fit strategies expanding to other countries, will prepare startups with the knowledge and relationships to expand in other markets and regions.
“GMP provides a platform for high growth innovative startups to explore cultures, understand ways of business and gain international market access in countries beyond ASEAN,” he said.
He added the programme will be the first partnership with MaGIC for the Tegas Digital Village, which is in line with our mission to empower Sarawak startups to scale globally.
On the same note, MaGIC acting chief executive officer Amiruddin Abdul Shukor said through the programme, startups will learn from inspiring mentors and meet and gain access to international investors and route-to-market partners.
He emphasised that participants are also required to commit to the online programme on a meeting schedule basis for the entire duration.
“MaGIC has always been supporting start-ups to go global. This programme will focus on start-ups meeting specific requirements, beyond TRL 6 or Series A above, to venture abroad.
“The pandemic impacted pre-existing plans by many start-ups to expand and scale-up. As they pivot to recover, GMP provides this unique platform for them to thrive,” he said.
The GMP, which will run virtually from August 1 to September 24, is now open for applications.
