KUCHING, June 17: A lorry driver’s assistant was today sentenced to 10 years’ jail and three strokes of the rotan for committing armed gang robbery with two others who are still at large.

Dinra Udin, 19, had pleaded guilty earlier but because he is under 21-years-old, the Sessions Court waited for his social report from the Welfare Department before passing sentence today.

The teenager and two others had robbed Mckhinon Mohan, 19, with a machete at Wangsa Mart Store, Pending Road, at about 2.30am on May 4 this year.

He was charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 397 of the same Code, which carries an imprisonment term that may extend to 20 years and liable to whipping, if convicted.
