MIRI, August 10: A teenage girl claimed she was sexually assaulted by her best friend’s father twice in his house in Piasau, once in March this year and again last month.
Fearing for her safety, the 14 year-old, a school dropout, narrated her ordeal to the police only on Wednesday (August 8).
In the first incident, the complainant went to her friend’s house and later took a bath while her friend went out to buy some bread at a nearby shop. When the complainant emerged from the bathroom, she claimed she was shocked to see the suspect in his daughter’s bedroom.
Nothing untoward happened as her friend returned shortly thereafter. Upon seeing her daughter, the man hurriedly left the room.
In the second incident in July, the complainant again went to her best friend’s house in the afternoon. When she came out of the toilet, the suspect was standing right by the bathroom door and grabbed her hands. Terrified, the complainant ran out of the house.
The case is being investigated under Section 14(A) of the Sexual Crimes Against Children Act 2017. At press time, the suspect has not been arrested. — DayakDaily
