Technician pleads guilty to possesing 483.5g of cannabis

KUCHING, March 27: A technician was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment and ten strokes of rotan for possessing cannabis.

High Court Judge Supang Lian meted the sentence after the accused pleaded guilty to the alternative charge. The imprisonment sentence is to take effect from the date of arrest, that is February 14, 2018.


Mohamad Zuharmie Mohamad Haruddin, 27, was charged with possessing 483.5 grammes of cannabis at an express courier services office located in Green Heights, at about 9am, on February 14, 2018.

He thereby had committed an offence under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which is punishable under Section 39A(2) of the same Act and carries a imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than thirty years, and whipping not less than ten strokes.
