KUCHING, Nov 23: The proposed construction of a road connecting Kampung Temong to Kampung Sibakar necessitates an allocation of RM150 million.
Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sidang Bada has appealed to the Sarawak government to allocate the fund for the project to enable the road to be constructed.
“The road is important as it will serve as important border security route needed for the benefit of the populace in the area,” he raised this when debating Sarawak Budget 2024 in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting at DUN Complex here today.
Dr Simon also appealed to the government to increase the allocation for Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) to RM8 million annually.
“The continuous effort by the GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) government to narrow the development gap between rural and urban areas is praiseworthy. Through various fundings such as RTP, MRP (Minor Rural Project) and Development Budgets from various departments, projects worth millions have been implemented, are ongoing, and slated for implementation.
“RTP has been an important tool and instrument in accelerating economic and infrastructure growth in rural areas,” he pointed out.
Addressing the issue of a dilapidated school, Dr Simon urged the Education Ministry to promptly reconstruct a new facility for SK Payau, emphasising the urgency for attention and development.
“We do not want to wait and rebuild the school after any untoward misfortune happens in the school,” he said. — DayakDaily
