Teacher seriously injured in Kapit road accident

KAPIT, Nov 21: A 28-year-old teacher was seriously injured after he was hit by a four-wheel drive vehicle at Jalan Melekun here last night.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement department chief Superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu said in the 10.15pm incident, Franco Ijau Rajit was riding from Kapit Bazaar when a 4WD vehicle allegedly entered the opposite lane at Jalan Melekun.

“The 4WD vehicle was coming from Kampung Sawang towards Kapit bazaar when the driver Joshua Nyawai, 29, suddenly swerved into the opposite lane and collided with the motorcycle.


“The teacher suffered cracked femoral bone on his left leg and fractures on his left and right arms,” Alexson disclosed.

Due to the seriousness of his injuries, Franco was transferred to Sibu hospital for further treatment.

The 4WD driver and his passenger Saban Jawa, 50, escaped unhurt.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
