KUCHING, Oct 16: A taskforce has been formed to discuss the elevation of Padawan sub-district into a full district, according to Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip.
“On the elevation of Padawan sub-district office to be elevated to full district, we are aware of it and in discussions to look into when it can be done.
“It is an administrative process and subject to the State Secretary who heads the task force, and we leave it to the task force,” Dr Jerip told reporters today.
Earlier, he had officiated at the closing ceremony of a seminar on projects under Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) for Mambong constituency at a hotel here.
The Mambong assemblyman added that the process was not only for the case of Padawan sub district office, but also applies to other sub districts seeking to be elevated into full districts.
Earlier, Penghulu Richard Daho on the request for the elevation of Padawan sub-district office said, the area has about 69,000 in population, 10 schools, 12 government agencies and 62 villages, among others.
A coffee collection and processing centre (CCPC) at a cost of RM8 million will also be built in the area next year. — DayakDaily
