BAU, April 21: Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep has said he will not meddle in the issues faced by the vendors at Bau Community Market at the bazaar.

He said since the vendors have approached Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol, he is leaving the matter to the latter to find a solution.

It was reported on social media that vendors at the market were asked to vacate the premises for renovation works after it was purchased by a company, which prompted the traders to approach Mordi.

It was also reported that the 23 vendors, whose trading licence will also not be renewed this May, were given eviction notices last month and failure to do so would result in their goods being confiscated.

“I have read the news (in social media), but since the vendors have met with the MP (Mordi Bimol), I don’t want to get involved, I will let him solve the problem.

“This is because we are both in the government and we have the duty and responsibility, so no need for me to get involved,” Henry, who is Deputy Minister of Transport told reporters last night (April 20) after the triennial general meeting (TGM) of Tasik Biru division of Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) at Bau civic centre.

Meanwhile, Henry said the building is under the purview of Bau District Council, adding that any decision would rest with the council.

“The council building is under the Ministry of Local Government and Housing, so we don’t interfere with what the council is doing.

“And whatever they do is endorsed by the ministry,” he added. — DayakDaily
