KUCHING, Nov 24: Bau’s rapid development—driven by key development projects implemented by the Sarawak government—is encouraging its former residents to return and settle in the area, says Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, he said that a decade or two ago, many residents migrated to urban centres for better opportunities due to limited development in Bau.
However, he noted that the increasing number of development projects is actively encouraging residents to return to the district.
“The expansion of housing, facilities, and job opportunities has been a major catalyst for this positive shift,” he said during the Confucius Birthday Celebration at SJK Chung Hua Bau on Sunday (Nov 23).
Touching on the local education landscape, Henry highlighted that SJK Chung Hua Bau is now a school of choice for students from all backgrounds.
He highlighted that the key mission of schools today is to develop a well-rounded and balanced society capable of supporting the State’s growth, with education at its core.
“This approach is rooted in the fact that Sarawak consistently prioritises the harmony and well-being of its multi-racial community,” he said. — DayakDaily
