KUCHING, July 10: Assistant Minister of Native Land Development Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn will support any effort by the state government to name any infrastructure such as road after the late Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos Mamit for his vast contributions to the state and nation.
“That’s not up to me but the road naming committee. But if there is a proposal for that, we will support it in remembrance of him,” he told reporters after paying his last respects to the late Dawos at Stutong Indah this afternoon.
Sagah, who is also Tarat assemblyman, said Dawos had worked tirelessly to improve infrastructure such as roads, water and electricity in Mambong parliamentary constituency which is now known as Puncak Borneo and covers Tarat, Bengoh (now renamed as Mambong), and Serembu.
“He did a lot of work on the environment including representing Malaysia at international conferences, other than the constituency, so it is not only contributions to the state but also the country as a whole,” he added.
The late Dawos, who suffered from nasal cancer over the past few years breathed his last at the age of 70 at his residence around 11.30pm on Monday.
Dawos left behing his wife Datin Sri Christine Dawung Narub, three sons and seven grandchildren.
His funeral is scheduled to be held at St Ann’s Church, Kota Padawan on Friday at 11am and thereafter, a funeral service will be held at Kampung Stabut, Padawan. — DayakDaily
