KUCHING, May 6: Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abd Wahab has been appointed as the new chairman of Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia.
CIDB in a press statement today disclosed his appointment is effective May 1.
The construction industry regulator revealed that Yusuf, an engineer with more than 34 years of experience in the construction industry will be responsible for charting the direction of CIDB which was established under the Construction Industry Development Board Act 1994 (Act 520).
CIDB also revealed that Yusuf will spearhead the organisation’s efforts to become a competitive and credible organisation in line with its responsibility to regulate, develop and facilitate the construction industry in Malaysia.
The statement disclosed that Yusuf graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from University of Nebraska Omaha in the United States of America.
It added Yusuf was also a director who supervised government and private sector projects and is currently the director for Jurutera Perunding Wahab Sdn Bhd as well as a member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia and Insitution of Engineers Malaysia.
At the same time, CIDB noted Yusuf serves as the trustee in the Kuala Rejang Islamic Welfare Trustee Board, chairman of The Paloh Muslim Charitable Trust Fund and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) panel advisor for its civil engineering programme.
The board members of CIDB welcomed the appointment of Yusuf as its new chairman and extended their appreciation to Datuk Meor Abdul Aziz Othman who is retiring. — DayakDaily
