KUCHING, March 29: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Central Committee member Tan Kai will be sworn in as new Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman on April 1.
Outgoing MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang said Tan Kai will be joined by 17 new councilors at the swearing-in ceremony at MPP headquarters.
“Twelve councilors will be retained. So the ‘old’ ones know what is going on and the new ones will be able to come in and pick up from there.
“The 12 ‘old’ councilors should be able to lead the new councilors, and there will be continuity there,” he told a press conference at MPP headquarters here today.
Earlier on, Lo, who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman said since he was first appointed as MPP chairman on June 21, 2010, he has tried his best to engage with and help as many people as possible in the community.
He said it has become a personal responsibility which he took seriously from day one.
“This is something I will look back on fondly because I had the chance to help and look after the wellbeing of some, if not all of you here in Padawan.
“I hope the positive changes in Padawan will continue to flourish under the new chairmanship,” he added. — DayakDaily
