KUCHING, June 29: Political secretary to the Chief Minister Tan Kai has made a follow-up to check on the application status for Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) for singles as announced by the state government earlier.

Tan in a press statement today said he and Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Women’s chief Kho Teck Wan went to the State Implementation and Monitoring Unit (SIMU) to check on the latest development for the financial aid following numerous requests he received.

He noted the BKSS single person financial aid is for Sarawakians, aged 21 years and above with monthly income of less than RM2,000.

He added the eligible name list is to be provided by Inland Revenue Board (LHDM), basically, those who obtained the financial aid of RM800 under BPN single person grant shall be entitled to BKSS Single person aid of RM500.

“The appeal period of single person financial aid is from April 29 until May 31.

“The Sarawak government has received more than 360,000 applications, in which the eligibility of the applications are subject to the final list provided by the list from LHDM.

“Some applicants are single during the initial application period from April 18 until April 28 but turn into married personnel during the appeal period.

“Some applicants did not apply during the initial application period but applied during the appeal period due to separation or divorce.

“In order to avoid the problem to occur in the future, SIMU needs to wait for the final name list prior to the next course of action.

“I will continue to follow up and hopefully applicants with single status will eventually receive the financial aid,” he said. —DayakDaily
