SIMANGGANG, May 29: In anticipation of more Covid-19 positive cases, Taman Harmoni Community Hall has been proposed as the second low risk patients treatment centre (PKRC) here.

Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis disclosed that there is a need to prepare another PKRC in the area as a precautionary measure.

“This is in the event if Covid-19 situation in Sri Aman worsens with sudden influx of positive cases in Sri Aman.

“If the proposal is accepted and once it is in operation, PKRC Taman Harmoni community Hall can accommodate up to 50 bunk beds for 100 patients at a time,” he said after visiting the venue today.

Currently, Sri Aman has one PKRC at its indoor stadium. Due to the increasing numbers of positive cases in the district, low risk positive patients had to be divided and accommodated at PKRC Betong and PKRC Serian.

Francis added that today’s follow-up visit was to review the necessary equipment and facilities required for a PKRC.

“We will need electricity connection by Sarawak Energy Berhad and installation of meters for water supply from Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB).

“We also proposed to build a protective fence to separate the hall and additional bathrooms and toilets for PKRC staff outside the building,” he asserted.

Meanwhile Sri Aman Hospital director Dr Hazwani Mohd Yusop who was also at the site with Francis sought the  public’s understanding and cooperation on the urgent need of the Health Department to place low risk Covid-19 patients at a PKRC. — DayakDaily
