KUCHING, March 16: Stern action must be taken against ferry terminals refusing to provide life jackets, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
Uggah, who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Sarawak (MIPD), said he has directed the Public Works Department (JKR) to look into the matter to ensure public safety.
“We do not want any untoward occurrences like what happened some years ago.
“This can be avoided, so I want the JKR to relook at the enforcement aspect,” he said in a statement today.
He added that JKR should also reevaluate the safety protocols and facilities at all ferry terminals. — DayakDaily
