KUCHING, March 16: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is calling upon citizens to participate in the upcoming Earth Hour campaign by switching off their lights for an hour, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on March 23.

Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng encourages not only those within MBKS jurisdiction but also households from other areas to join the initiative and contribute to energy conservation.

“I hope Kuching Division can continue to become the leading city that saves the most energy.

“Therefore, I urge all citizens to switch off their unused lights from 8.30pm to 9.30pm,” he announced during his ShallWeeTalk Facebook live today.

Sarawak Energy will facilitate monitoring the energy consumption throughout the city on this day to assess the extent of energy saved across Sarawak, including within MBKS jurisdiction.

Wee emphasised that this is a significant campaign to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the environment.

“So I hope households in Kuching will actively support this campaign by minimising their energy usage as much as possible,” he urged. — DayakDaily
