Adverse weather alert issued for 13 districts in Sarawak until 6pm (March 16)

KUCHING, March 16: Alerts for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds were issued to 13 districts in Sarawak until 6pm today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in an advisory notice issued at 2.30pm, said the affected districts are Kuching, Bau, Sibu, Selangau, Mukah, Tanjung Manis, Daro, Matu, Bintulu, Tatau, Sebauh, Miri, and Marudi.


According to the department, a thunderstorm warning is issued when there are indications of intense rainfall exceeding 20mm/hour, either occurring or expected to occur for more than an hour.

It said that such warnings are short-term advisories, valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.

As such, resident in the affected districts are urged to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during the anticipated adverse weather conditions. — DayakDaily
