KUCHING, Mar 4: DAP Sarawak Chief Chong Chieng Jen told Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg not to push the responsibility for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s appointment as prime minister to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
Chong was commenting on Abang Johari’s statement that the King had called him on Feb 28 to ask GPS to make a choice between Muhyiddin or Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for the PM candidacy.
“Even if the King calls up, GPS has the liberty to choose the stand. Sad to say that they (GPS) chose to support Umno and Pas to be the federal government.”
He believed Sarawakians at large did not wish to support Umno and Pas to be the federal government and this was not the mandate of the majority of Sarawakians when they cast their votes in GE14.
“We do not want our country to run by Umno and Pas and I believe the majority of Sarawakians are of that view, and GPS has gone strongly against the view and wishes of Sarawakians. ”
On question whether GPS’ MPs will enter the cabinet or not, Chong said it was already immaterial and that the onus of responsibility for Umno and Pas making up the federal government was on them.
“They are responsible and history will record it. This is a sad incident, sad episode in the history of Malaysia.” —DayakDaily
