KUCHING, Dec 28: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) expresses the strong stance of not welcoming any controversial leaders from other parties while existing leaders or members who disagree with the latest decision may leave the party.
Its president Datuk Larry Sng said this when stating the party’s direction where he noted the possibilities of PBM joining a coalition after six months to forge an electoral pact while defending its Julau parliamentary seat and three state seats in Selangor and Sabah.
He also said that PBM’s next Supreme Council meeting would very likely decide to prohibit all members from joining Muafakat Nasional (MN), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) which has the same name as former political alliance between Umno and PAS formed in 2019.
“Those known to have joined (MN) shall have their party membership suspended and eventually revoked.
“I believe this is a new beginning. We need clean and experienced leaders who are sincere in bringing about positive changes to the political landscape of this country.
“We will not bring in controversial leaders from other parties to join our leadership and will instead cultivate new leaders from within our ranks. Those who are unhappy to stay are welcome to leave,” said Sng in a statement posted on his social media page today.
After a heated power struggle saga whereby former PBM president-designate Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin and 10 other supreme council members were sacked, Sng said he would be travelling throughout the country within the month of January to meet with PBM party leaders.
He said the meetings would discuss PBM’s future direction as well as to appoint new state chairmen where necessary.
On the party itself, Sng stressed that PBM is a national-based party with strong roots in Sarawak and Sabah where PBM’s focus would be on developing Sarawak and Sabah as well as highlighting policy issues in Peninsular Malaysia.
He reiterated PBM’s support for the unity government.
“This means that we support the Prime Minister YAB DSAI (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim), and are aligned to PH (Pakatan Harapan), BN (Barisan Nasional), GRS (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah), GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak), (Parti) Warisan and KDN (Ministry of Home Affairs).
“They are our new allies and the government’s position is our party direction,” said Sng.— DayakDaily
