KUCHING, Oct 8: Time flew fast like ‘shoong!’ as South Korean singer-songwriter Taeyang left the crowd in awe at last night’s Borneo Sonic Music Festival 2023 at the Sarawak Stadium (Oct 7).
The 35-year-old began his music career as a member of the boy group BigBang in 2006, which is dubbed ‘The Kings of K-pop’ and famous for hit singles like ‘Fantastic Baby’ and ‘Bang Bang Bang’.
Thus, it was no wonder that his presence was much anticipated by the crowd, who had been chanting his name from the start of the concert.
It is safe to say nearly the whole crowd knew the Korean lyrics to his songs, namely ‘Shoong!’, ‘Vibe’, ‘Ringa Linga’, ‘Eyes, Nose, and Lips’, and ‘Wedding Dress’.
Apart from Taeyang, another K-pop star, Suho, best known as the leader of the boy group EXO, also had a fantastic stage.
Although this was not an EXO concert, many EXOLs (EXO’s fandom name) had shown themselves by raising their fandom lightsticks, much to Suho’s surprise.
Australian DJ Havana Brown also performed an energetic set as she had the concert-goers jumping and dancing to the beat.
The lineup for the night included Taiwanese artists Melo Moon and BG8LOCC, as well as local acts, namely multi-instrumentalist Belle Sisoski, rapper Ja-G, singer Jordan Queka, and girl group Dolla.
It was informed that the event recorded about 15,000 visitors last night.
The two-day Borneo Sonic Music Festival was jointly organised by BME (International) Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Skyline Entertainment, and Dream Factory Entertainment.
