KUCHING, March 21: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) received a total of RM4.6 million in business zakat from the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) and Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad in a formal handover witnessed by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), BDA contributed RM1 million, with its general manager Datu Muhamad Yakup Kari presenting the payment to TBS general manager Datu Abang Mohamad Shibli Abang Mohamad Nailie.
Also present were BDA deputy chairman Dato Haidar Khan Asghar Khan and secretary Wan Ibrahim Wan Ali.

Meanwhile, Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad handed over RM3.6 million—the highest business zakat contribution recorded by the company—represented by its chief executive officer, Ruslan Abdul Ghani. He noted that the amount was derived from last year’s profits.
“This RM3.6 million is our highest zakat contribution so far. It reflects not only our financial success but also our responsibility beyond taxation. If our profits continue to grow, so will our contributions,” he said.
Sarawak Secretary and Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad chairman, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, along with Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Commission, and Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, were also present. – DayakDaily
