KUCHING, March 17: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mobilised aid for the victims of a recent fire in Kampung Tabuan Melayu, reaffirming its commitment to community welfare under the Project Caring Society initiative.
According to a statement, MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng and councillors extended immediate aid to the affected families, with a special focus on ensuring that children receive the necessary assistance to continue their education without disruption.
“As part of this effort, ten children from the affected families were brought on a shopping trip to purchase school uniforms, shoes, socks, school bags, and essential school accessories,” said the statement.
At the same time, Wee emphasised that education should never be compromised due to unforeseen hardships, and MBKS is committed to providing assistance where needed.
“This initiative is part of MBKS’s ongoing community outreach efforts to foster a caring and inclusive society. It is not just about providing aid but ensuring that these children can resume their daily routines with dignity and confidence,” said Wee.
MBKS added that it will continue to work closely with local communities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and relevant agencies to extend further support to families in need, which is in line with its vision of building a resilient and compassionate city. — DayakDaily
