KOTA SAMARAHAN, Aug 23: A communication tower at Bukit Berangan here caught fire on Saturday (Aug 22), but no injuries were reported.
In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 6.24pm, and firefighters from the Kota Samarahan station were deployed.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the fire had started from a switch box before spreading to the communication tower structure.
Firefighters initially used fire extinguishers to carry out the initial firefighting operation, but the fire intensified.
The operation was then continued using a utility vehicle equipped with a floating pump, with a 300-foot hose line and a nozzle deployed to extinguish the fire with water was sourced from a pond near the scene.
The fire was brought under control at 8.30pm, and the operation was fully concluded at 9.15pm after inspections found no remaining sources of fire. — DayakDaily
