KUCHING, Oct 3: As of 12pm today, the whole of Sarawak recorded moderate air pollutant index (API) readings, with Sri Aman registering the highest at 91.
According to the Department of Environment’s (DoE) API management system (APIMS) website, in contrast, ILP Miri recorded the lowest at 62.
In between, IPD Serian recorded the second-highest API reading at 89, followed by Kuching (84), Samarahan (77), Bintulu (75), Sibu and Kapit (71), Sarikei (70), Limbang (68), and Miri, Samalaju, and Mukah (63).
The department has advised members of the public not to do any open burning, limit outdoor activities, drink adequate water (at least eight glasses a day), and stay indoors with air conditioning, if possible.
Those with ailments such as coughing, flu, asthma, eye pain, heart disease, or chronic lung problems are urged to go to the nearest healthcare provider should their conditions worsen.
Wearing face masks is encouraged for individuals riding motorcycles, in high-risk groups, or when going outdoors. — DayakDaily
