KUCHING, Jan 6: Sarawak’s first Chinese Deputy State Secretary, Datu Hii Chang Kee, will have the Sarawak Service Modernisation Unit (SSMU) and the Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonies and Event Management Unit (UPPANS) under his new portfolio.
Hii officially handed over his duties as permanent secretary to the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts on Dec 30 and reported to his new post on Tuesday (Jan 3).
Today, he visited the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) at Bangunan Baitulmakmur I to learn more about Ukas’ role and function.
According to a news report by Ukas, the work visit also allows Hii to understand the issues and challenges faced by Ukas towards becoming a catalyst for public communication and the main official media in Sarawak.
Hii’s presence at Ukas this morning was welcomed by Ukas acting director Samuel Simon and other top management officers.
