KUCHING, July 14: Sarawak has not received the RM100 million in funds announced by Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim to reimburse the State government for upgrading and repairing schools and clinics in Sarawak.
Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is also Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, said the Sarawak government will proceed with implementation using the RM200 million allocation that was announced by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“We haven’t received anything, but having said that, we are not going to wait. We are going to plan what the Premier has allocated,” he told reporters when met at the Association of Churches Sarawak hall at Jalan Stampin here today.
On June 22, when attending the Sarawak Hari Gawai 2024 gala dinner held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), Abang Johari announced advance funding of RM200 million to upgrade and repair schools and clinics in Sarawak, which would be reimbursed by the federal government later.
At the event, Anwar also instructed Putrajaya to allocate RM100 million as reimbursement to the Sarawak government to expedite the implementation.
Dr Sim added that they will keep track of what the Prime Minister has promised. — DayakDaily
